Today marks our last class with Dr. Fariza. After a few weeks, we didn't have classes due to public holidays, and so on; finally, we were able to meet our lovely Dr. Fariza. So basically, in today's class, she wanted to know about individual and group work progress, i.e., blogs and posters for individuals and AR projects (books/videos/animations). My group has also shown the work of our group, and alhamdulillah we received positive feedback from her. She seemed satisfied with our work, and we were genuinely grateful for that. Apart from that, today, Nurul printed out our AR book, and we were very impressed with the final outcome! The book looked so cute, and I wish I could see it before my eyes 😍However, something happened after it was printed. During the class, Dr tried to scan one of the QR codes, and unfortunately, one of them was not working 😥We didn't know what happened to it. So, we created another QR code and changed it in the softcopy. Luckily, Dr said it's okay since we have printed out the book, so we have to change it in the slides. Then, Nurul posted the book to Dr, and hopefully, the book will arrive safely to Dr. I hope she'll be amazed by it, aamin! Lastly, this course is one of the best and most challenging courses this semester, but at the same time, I truly learned a lot in this course. I got to acquire new skills (animation, AR, etc.) and explored a lot of valuable tools for teaching and learning materials. I also got to improve my soft skills such as teamwork, time management, and communication, which will be helpful for my future. Hence, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my beloved instructor, Dr. Fariza, for your continuous support and guidance, as well as my group members for your cooperation in completing our group work. So, with that being said, see you again when I see you, everyone! 😻👋
Yours truly, Humairaa

Hello everyone! Today our group continued doing our AR project. We used Genial.ly for gamification and Blippar for AR. We also divided the tasks and I was assigned to complete a quiz (gamification) using the Genial.ly app. This was my first time doing a quiz (gamification) using Genial.ly and I would say that this app was a user-friendly app. It was really easy to use and there were many templates that we can choose from to create an engaging quiz. Besides that, my other group members did the AR using Blippar and I was truly amazed by the outcome. I just have to scan the slides that showed the Blippar code, and then I scan it using Blippar and the video will come out. That was pretty cool and I'm sure if we were to show it to the students, they'll be amazed as well. Overall, I would say that these two apps, Blippar and Genial.ly are very engaging and useful apps that teachers can utilize for their lessons. It was such a great tool and suitable for Gen Z students. Last but not least, I would like to inform you that our AR project is DONE yay! We just need to print it out and submit it to Dr. Hopefully we'll get good marks for it aamin hehe, that's all for today, thank you!
Yours truly, Humairaa Assalamualaikum and hello everyone! I would like to inform you that our video is DONE!! Alhamdulillah, after all the hardships we went through while completing this video, finally, we managed to complete it. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my greatest group members for their cooperation and contribution in making this short video. We made it girls, congrats to us! So, here you go, our short video "Kerinduan", enjoy!
Yours truly, Humairaa Hello everyone! So today, we decided to do our AR project and Animation video. We divided the tasks. So I and Suhafizah did the animation video (using Powtoon) and Nurul/Raihana did the AR part (using Blippar). Let me be honest, this is my first time doing animation using Powtoon. I have never done any animation video before, especially using Powtoon, and it was quite hard to do it at first, but after I explored it, alhamdulillah I managed to do it. It was kind of stressful actually because we need to edit it to look smooth (transitions especially). And the worst part was Powtoon only allowed one user at a time. So I cannot do it with Suhafizah at the same time (we were really stressed out because it takes time to do it). Then I told Su that I'm going to finish my part ASAP so she could continue with her part. Alhamdulillah, I settled my part and I passed it over to Su. Okay here comes the tough and unpredictable part. We have done our animation video BUT we couldn't download it 😭😭 We just realised that the Powtoon account that we used was not a premium account, and it's a free account which was why we couldn't download it. But luckily, Su found a way and we could upload the video on Youtube! So, here's our masterpiece! I am truly impressed with the outcome! So, after this I guess I could do more animation video hehe *achievement unlocked*. Now, enjoy our video! Yours truly, Humairaa Today we did our presentation on AR Book (which was the slides we did in Canva). We did the presentation on Zoom and we explained the content of our book. We have 10 subtopics altogether and we emphasized the grammar part which was Noun. Below are the contents of the book:
1. Instructions (how to use the AR - Blippar and QR code) 2. Learning contents (Noun, Countable & uncountable Noun, Collective Noun) 3. Videos (AR) 4. Questions to determine the students' understanding of the topic (Gamification - quizzes) Hopefully Dr approved aamin! That's all for now, thank you! Yours truly, Humairaa Salam and hi everyone! So, a few days back our group have submitted our storyline to Dr.Fariza in the Telegram. We did the presentation of the script and today we have received feedback from her. First thing first, I felt relieved because Dr approved our storyline yay, alhamdulillah! We received positive feedback from her and she asked us to add some elements/scenes that will make our video much more engaging. Something that could actually make the audience touched (I guess something that could make them teared up 😂). Dr said that our storyline was good enough and she could imagine the sadness already, just that it would be better if we add some more elements that could make it more "sad" and meaningful. So I suggested to my group members that we should add one more scene which is; the girl is going to read the letter from her late father which makes the girl teared up reading the letter as it contains some meaningful words for her. And my group agreed, so now we can proceed with the recording. Hope it goes well aamin! That's all for now, thank you!
Yours truly, Humairaa Salam and hello everyone! I can't believe that it's already Week 10 because I felt like my mid-semester break just ended but turned out it's already Week 10! How fast the time flies, right? Okay, so this week we had synchronous class with Dr.Fariza. Our class began with some brief explanation on the tasks which were Multimedia Task (which we will be producing a video) and the individual task which we were asked to create a poster. To be honest, I was quite overwhelmed when I heard about the tasks, especially the multimedia task because it has been a while since I last made a video (more like short film). So, I was quite anxious about it but luckily Dr.Fariza gave us some reassurance by showing us the examples made by the previous students and saying that we will be able to do it despite the pandemic. She also gave us options whether to do a video recording or using animation and that truly made me feel relieve (at least a bit though). Then, Dr.Fariza continued to give us lecture and today's topic was about Principles of Design (CASPER technique). I have no idea on what is CASPER technique as I've never heard of it until Dr. Fariza showed us the elements. Actually, I have learned about this during my Diploma years, just that we don't called it as Casper technique. So, what is CASPER Technique? It is an abbreviation of the design principles which include: 1. C - Contrast (contrast in colour, image, typography) 2. A - Alignment (achieve balance such as straight line/parallel) 3. S - Simplicity (simple, easy to understand, not too wordy/lengthy) 4. P - Proximity (distance between the text and graphic) 5. E - Emphasize (put emphasis on the main point: font style/colours) 6. R - Repetition (consistency of image/colour/font, etc.) Besides that, Dr. Fariza also mentioned in order to create a meaningful design, there are some general rules which involve: 1. Stick to 2 main colours and must not exceed 4 colours (this apply to the typography) 2. Provide ample white space (not necessarily white) for eyes to stay relaxed. All of these elements are very important in graphic design as these are the basic principles that have to be adhered in order to create a stunning and meaningful design which could capture the audience's attention as well as conveying the information to the target audience. As a future teacher, I think these principles are very useful especially in developing teaching materials that involve graphic designs (ex: slides, poster, infographic, etc.) because it would help me in creating an attractive and meaningful materials that could attract the student's attention, particularly Gen Z students. Moreover, when the graphic elements are chosen and applied carefully, graphics can add valuable context and information. Whereas, when chosen poorly, graphics can confuse students and interfere with their understanding of key concepts. Thus, teachers need to adhere to the principles of design in order to create a meaningful learning with meaningful materials. Yours Truly, Humairaa Today our group discussed our multimedia project. We decided to do a narrative-style video where we'll be using a poem. Our video is going to be about someone who lost his/her loved ones. But in our video, it's about a girl who lost her father and she missed her father deeply that it broke her every time she was reminded of the memories with her father. We'll be using a poem that was written by one of our group members, Nurul, and the title of the poem is "Kerinduan (Longing)".To be honest, when I read the poem for the first time, it somehow touched me because I could deeply engage with the poem. It reminds me of my late "Opah" that I lost last year. I could feel the sadness and the longing of someone you loved but you just can't meet them as they're no longer in this world. I have to say that I was totally impressed with this masterpiece written by Nurul. She was indeed a talented girl ❤ Subsequently, we decided our parts for the video such as the actress (Suhafizah & Raihana), the editor (Nurul), and the narrator (myself). We also discussed the scripts for the video because Dr Fariza wanted to know the script before we proceed with the recording. Hopefully, Dr will approve our idea aamin! That's all for now, thank you!
Yours truly, Humairaa Today is the first day that our group discussed the AR Project. We discussed the content of the book and we decided to create it on Canva. We chose English subject as it is our major and we chose the topic from Year 4 book. Below are the details in the book:
Title: Eating Right Year: Year 4 Subject: English Next, we discussed the content of the book. However, to decide the content, we have to determine our lesson objectives. Here comes the tough part 😂 This is because we have to make sure that the lesson objectives are aligned with the DSKP. However, we managed to do it after a few trials. Then, we decide on the content of the book and we begin to do our slides in Canva. We spent the whole evening settling up the slides and honestly I was satisfied seeing the outcome of our slides! It looks engaging tho (although it's not fully done yet), can't wait to show you guys! I'll update it soon! Yours truly, Humairaa ❤ This week we learned about learning theories and Instructional Design (TPACK Model). Basically, these topics were not foreign to me because I have learned these during my first year. So, like what Dr.Fariza has mentioned, this would be some sort of revision so that we could recall the items involved in these two topics.
Topic 1: Learning Theories In the context of education, there are three main learning theories which include Behaviourism, Cognitivism, and Constructivism. The first theory is Behaviourism. According to this theory, all behaviours are taught through interaction with the environment or in other words learning occurs through the interaction of stimulus and response. This theory include the elements of reinforcement (positive & negative) and punishment (positive & negative). Positive or negative reinforcement raises the likelihood of an event occurring again, whereas punishment, both positive and negative, decreases the likelihood of an event occurring again. For instance, the teacher rewards the student by giving points/marks if the student answer the questions correctly (positive reinforcement). Whereas the example for positive punishment is when the teacher scolds the students who are texting during class. The next theory is Cognitivism. Cognitivism is a learning theory that examines how the mind processes, organizes, stores, and retrieves knowledge. It employs the mind as a data processor, much like a computer. As a result, cognitivism considers learning as internal mental processes (active mental process) rather than observable behaviour (behaviourism). Bloom's Taxonomy model is one of the model that can be used by teachers to understand the student's level of knowledge as it involves six levels of cognitive domain (remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating). For example, teacher could ask various questions or give quizzes to determine the students' knowledge and cognitive level. The last theory is Constructivism. This theory states that rather than passively taking in information, learners generate knowledge. As people experience the world and reflect upon those experiences, they build their own representations and incorporate new information into their pre-existing knowledge (schemas). In other words, people actively construct their own knowledge & reality is determined by the experiences of learner. Examples of constructivism in classroom: conducting experiments (discovery learning). Therefore, as a future educator, knowing and mastering these learning theories is crucial as it will help us as teachers in connecting to all different kinds of students. It will also helps us to focus on different learning styles to reach different students and create teaching that focuses directly on student needs and aptitudes. As an educator, we should not only merely understand these theories, but also master it so that we could select the suitable theory and apply it during the T&L process. As a result, students will be able to achieve a meaningful learning process. Topic 2: Instructional Design (ID) Instructional design is the creation of learning experiences and materials in a manner that results in the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills. It is a theory that was developed to explain the set of knowledge that teachers need to teach their students a subject, teach effectively, and use technology. ID are important for every instructional designer (in education context, the educator) as it helps in the process of assessing needs, designing a process, developing materials and evaluating their effectiveness. An Instructional Designer needs to go through a process of well-thought stages before proceeding with their content development. To put it simply, we can refer to the diagram above which is the TPACK Model. TPACK/TPCK is the abbreviation for: T- Technological, P- Pedagogical, C-Content, K- Knowledge. As all of these component in TPACK are related to one another (e.g.: PCK (pedagogical content knowledge), TCK (technological content knowledge), TPK (technological pedagogical knowledge), thus, teachers need to acquire all of these skills to ensure the effectiveness in the teaching and learning process. To sum up, I believe that TPACK is an essential part of the education system today, especially during this pandemic, as it incorporates the growing demand on the use of technology in the classroom, continuing the focus on the content and how to teach it. Therefore, I will acquire as much skills as possible as in TPACK (especially technological skills) as a preparation to sets up education for the future as well as setting up the students for their future. Yours truly, Humairaa This week we had our asynchronous class in which Dr.Fariza asked us to watch a video on Augmented Reality (AR). Honestly, I have heard a lot about AR since the past 3 years but I only knew about it briefly and not in detailed. So, I was very excited when we were asked to watch the video on AR as I would like to know and explore more on what is exactly Augmented Reality (AR).
So, what is Augmented Reality or AR? Augmented reality (AR) is a technologically augmented version of the real world that is created through the use of digital visual elements, sounds, or other sensory stimulation. To put it simply, AR (Augmented Reality) is a technology that extends our physical world by layering digital data on top of it. Unlike Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) does not develop entire artificial environments to replace actual ones with virtual ones. This means that AR uses a real-world setting while VR is completely virtual. One of the most notable example of AR is Pokemon Go game which we could see as if the Pokemon exist in the real world but through the lens of smartphones. In the context of education, AR does provide a lot of benefits. By delivering a visual and interactive learning experience, it enables for a better grasp of an otherwise complex topic. Consider how much easier it will be for educators to go paperless when AR is implemented in the classroom. It makes our jobs as educators easier because we won't have to bring as many teaching materials to class. Besides that, AR also improve the learning experiences as the activities that integrated with AR often interactive and as a result could engage the students' participation in learning as well as increases their motivation. Thus, I believe that the usage of AR in the classroom offers various benefits especially to the future generation students as they would be more advance and require an advance and updated way of learning. Yours truly, Humairaa Today we had asynchronous class as what we have agreed with Dr.Fariza last week which was to have alternative classes (synchronous and asynchronous). So, we were asked to watched Youtube videos by Dr.Fariza on how to blog/create the portfolio using Weebly. I have never heard of Weebly before and this was my first time exploring it. I used to blog (during school years) using Blogger but that was years ago. I started blogging when I was 14 and continued it up until I was 17, but honestly I wasn't that active in blogging because I only blogging when I feel like it. The reason why I started blogging was because I saw my cousin's blog which was very very cute and attractive (every time I opened it, songs started to play and there was even a customized cursor). So, seeing her cute blog made me wanted to own a blog too, and during that time I only knew one platform which was, Blogger.
Okay now, let's talk about Weebly. So, I began exploring Weebly while I was watching the Youtube videos and I would say that Weebly was a user-friendly platform. Plus, with the step-by-step guidance by Dr.Fariza, I found it even easier to blog using Weebly. The interface itself was very simple and easy to use which I can guarantee that even those who have never blogging before could even do it by using Weebly. With just a few clicks and you're good to go. Besides that, Weebly also provides the users with various features to enhance the experience in blogging such as media (which include inserting videos from Youtube, documents, files, audio etc.) and there's also e-commerce feature which would be useful for those who own a business. Another feature was the theme (which was my favourite feature) because it had tons of attractive themes so it allows the users to change it whenever they want to. Overall, I would say that Weebly is one of the best platform to blog because of the various features it provides and I definitely going to start blogging again, and this time by using Weebly. As the future educator, I hope that this platform could be a starting point for me to create a blog (educational blog specifically) so that I could share and spread my knowledge especially in my field, with hope that it would benefit others in the future. Yours truly, Humairaa We had our very first meeting with our tutorial lecturer, Dr.Fariza, in the 5th week. I was very excited to get to know my classmates from various courses such as Special Education and SUKRES, as well as the long-awaited person that I’m eager to meet virtually which is, Dr. Fariza. So our first class began with Dr. Fariza introducing herself. I was amazed to find out about her great achievements and contributions in the Innovation and Technology field. It was clear as day that my tutorial lecturer is really a sensei in this field. Then she asked us to introduce ourselves (although some of us already did that in Telegram by posting our pictures and a little bit of our backgrounds). Dr. Fariza also asked us to turn on our cameras so that we could see each other's faces (which I'm pretty sure all of us got a sudden social anxiety because we rarely turn on our cameras), and honestly I was very pleased to see my friends' faces and they all seem in a good shape. Being able to meet and greet them virtually made me feel like the good old days where we could meet each other in the physical class (which I really hope we could go back to campus and attend physical classes on the next semester). Next, Dr. Fariza explained the course proforma in detailed and followed by the lecture topic which was the Introduction to Innovation & Technology in Teaching & Learning. This topic gave me a whole new insight towards the technology because initially, I thought technology was solely a combination of electronic things and the internet. But Dr.Fariza had completely changed my perception, which she said "Anything that helps facilitate work or in the context of education i.e. something that facilitates the teaching and learning process is considered technology." So, basically if we create something such as teaching materials that could actually aid the learning process to become smooth, it is considered as technology. This topic also explained about the domains of educational technology which include 5 domains altogether (I called it as DDUME): 1. Domain 1 (Design) 2. Domain 2 (Development) 3. Domain 3 (Utilization) 4. Domain 4 (Management) 5. Domain 5 (Evaluation) Based on these five domains, I personally think that the most challenging domain is the Design domain. This is because teachers need to design the teaching materials that suits the student's knowledge and level. Moreover, the teacher needs to ensure that the teaching materials are engaging and efficient to the students which I think it is quite tough at times, especially for Gen Z students because they tend to have shorter attention span and are more advanced. Thus, teachers need to carefully analyze and understand the students' needs and background knowledge before designing the teaching materials to ensure that the teaching materials are appropriate and suit the students' needs. To conclude, all of these domains are indeed crucial in ensuring the smoothness of the teaching and learning process. Finally we're coming to an end, so Dr. Fariza asked us to turn on the cameras once again and this time it was a group photo which I think all of us looked cute though haha. I truly enjoyed our first class and I couldn't deny that Dr. Fariza did know how to grab our attentions which I'm certain that all of us can't wait for the next class. I would also say that this subject is an exciting subject to learn and I'm sure I could polish up my technology skills which would be beneficial in the future. Lastly, I hope that as a future educator, my knowledge of technology will progress along the same lines as Dr. Fariza's, and that I will be able to contribute and incorporate as much technology into education in the future. Yours truly, Humairaa |
